Bye Bye Website Traffic. Hello AI.
Searching via Google seems to be under pressure, resulting in decreased website traffic.

ChatGPT Reduces Website Traffic
Searching via Google seems to be under pressure, resulting in decreased website traffic. Interestingly, Google itself has been struggling for some time with the gap between its Gemini model and ChatGPT. I can only say that we are still at the dawn of fascinating and currently unpredictable developments.
The Rollercoaster is Starting
Some conclusions can already be drawn, as shown in this article by SIDN, conducted by GfK. My assessment is that we are standing right at the entrance of the rollercoaster. I wouldn’t dare to cite absolute numbers or make concrete predictions about the future, but one thing is certain: a shift is taking place.
Rapid Growth of ChatGPT
ChatGPT entered the market a few years ago and has experienced staggering growth. At the beginning of 2023, it had around 600,000 monthly users. By the end of 2024, that number had already risen to 3.1 million per month (source: SIDN).
Declining Website Traffic
What this development will mean for the number of visitors to websites remains uncertain. The current figures do not yet allow for definitive conclusions. A certain balance between early adopters and average users is needed before we can truly assess the impact of ChatGPT and similar platforms. Additionally, I am very curious to see what Google will bring to the table with Gemini. These are exciting times!
